Dinosaurs

What are dinosaurs?

Dinosaurs are ancient and extinct reptiles. Their closest and only living desendants are birds. These animals ranged in size from small turkey sized raptors to huge giants such as the long necked Brachiosaurus. Some were predators like the tryranasaurus rex while others were herbivores or omnivores.

These animals ruled the world for a around 165 million years. They were wiped out by an asteroid around 65 million years ago.

They are incredibly popular in pop culture. Movies such as Jurastic Park feature the animals.

Discovery

Dinosaur fossils have been around forever however they were misidentified. The mythological dragons were created from these cases of misidentification. Storms and natural disasters often unearth dinosaur fossils probably aiding in the fire breathing monster myths.

In the last few centuries dinosaurs have been recognised as extinct ancient creaturs. We discover new dinosaur fossils all the time, but do the how little animals get fossilized when they die we will never know the true variety of these species. Most of dinosaurs lived in rainforest enviroments where fossilization is incredibly rare.

Pop Culture

Jurastic world is probably the most popular exaple of dinosaurs in media. The francise even has spin of tv series such as Camp Cretatius and Lego Jurastic World. Personally I love the Camp Cretatius series for their depiction of anti-social characters as not needing to be more social or change their personality to be accepted by other characters.

Videogames also feature the creatures: often as antagonists. There were dinosaur hunter games as early as the SNES and N64 and the recent bestselling Switch Game Mario Odessy allows you to run around as a T-Rex.
